Fashion Do's & Don'ts

Hey Everyone!
So glad to chat with ya'll again, I missed yeah! So sorry I haven't had any recent posts: I have been sick with the flu and had to miss a whole week of school! Let me tell yeah, it's not fun trying to catch up. I thought I would start off with my reflections on some fashion do's and! don'ts!
The first one I would like to share is a controversial subject and everyones opinion about it is not the same, and that would be my strong feeling towards brands like, Aeropostale, Ed Hardy, etc. I hate to inform you but clothing with the brand name stretched across a shirt is by no means fashion. It is totally fine to wear these cloths but don't try to pass them off as a representation of personal style and for goodness sake girls please stop your men from buying Ed Hardy; its not cute!
Another fashion don't may sound like an obvious and non-revelant observation but surprisingly this "trend" is running rapid through my school. Pajama bottoms are NOT by any means appropriate outside of your own house. It just baffles me that people go out in public looking like they just got out of bed. I understand you want to be comfortable at school but come on people; looking homeless is not cute!
Next I would like to clear up a fashion do that people might of mistaken from a earlier post; the wearing of Ugg boots. Personally I love them and they can be a cute addition to your fall/winter wardrobe, when worn with the proper outfit. In my past posts people freaked out at the idea that I thought Uggs were atrocious, which is totally misleading. Uggs with sweatpants are a Fashion DON'T while Uggs with a pair of jeans (skinny or straight leg) are really cute!
A fashion do that might be a little less obvious would be investing in a great coat or winter jacket. Im not talking about the ones you buy at snowboarding stores, i'm talking about good quality, structured coats or jackets. Yes they maybe a little pricey, but they will last you forever and will be a good staple during the Fall/Winter season.

Now before you get all defensive remember; this is my opinion and my point of view on fashion as I see it. So if you don't agree with my point of view, than don't read it.

Thanks again everyone for your complements and feedback about this blog!

Let me know if you would like more beauty sections added as well.

Till next time,
XOXO

Finally.....Fall Wardrobe!

Hey Everyone!
Thank you for your patience while waiting for the fall wardrobe pictures!
Like I have mentioned before, I love fall, because of the ability to layer clothing and bundle up in knits. I also love fall because we now can wear our chic jackets and coats! Fall lets us be comfortable, yet stylish all at the same time. As you can see in the pictures, Shandra, is wearing a chic structured jacket with a flowing white blouse and some skinny jeans. Just with the addition of the jacket, it takes her outfit to a whole new level.
Her style is impecable and is a perfect reflection of her outgoing personality. This is a prime example of how fashion is a representation of who we are, and not just a materialistic hobby.
In my pictures I am representing the knit trends for this fall and my love for cardigans! I cant even explain to you how amazing they are! They are such an easy add to your outfit and can really make a pair of jeans and a t-shirt look pretty fabulous!
Some other trends that we didn't add to the photos were some of the more smaller trends like accessorizing. This fall wearing big, bulky scarves had a really big impact on the runways and have made there way down to us!! YAY!
Until next time folks!

A Must Have Book for Anyone Wanting A Career In Fashion

Recently, during my daily, reading of my favorite blogs, I came across a book that has expanded my knowledge on what it takes to get your foot into this business."the Teen Vogue Hand Book" is exactly what it promises - an insiders guide to careers in fashion. Before purchasing this book I never thought of how much information and guidance it would give me to enter this fast-pace, competitive industry, but now I am amazed! Even though there is no section on becoming a fashion publicist, it still has given me some very useful information. This book has five main careers at which it looks at including becoming a designer, editor, model, stylist and even working in beauty. In each section it gives you real life examples of current industry proffesionals, including there journey to where they are now and some tips of the trade. Also throughout the sections it gives you some tips (Tool Kits) on what you will need to be successful in this career! The most useful attribute to this book was its intern section, where it gives you tips on finding an internship, being an intern, and even some tips on creating your resume and cover letter. Overall this book is a must have to anyone aspiring to work in the fashion industry. I'm sure it will give me useful information now and down the road, in the future!

Dress For Less!

One of the most common questions that I get is, "Where do you buy your cloths at?" and the answer to the question would be H&M! Not only are there cloths fierce, trendy, and just plain gorgeous, they are affordable! As we all know economic times have been rough so you wont be seeing people with a large amount of money set aside for cloths! Magazines and retailers have realized this and instead of trying to sell the public a pair of two thousand dollar jeans, they are focusing on what people can afford with out breaking there budget.
H&M is one of these stores! Mind you, the one in my area is a tad bit ghetto when its compared to its other locations but it sure does the trick! I find amazing pieces of clothing for almost dirt cheap price and can still find some great, more expensive staple pieces to add to my wardrobe, like a nice jacket or coat!
H&M has recently teamed up with many designers to add more luxury pieces to their stores which can be a nice addition to any wardrobe! Once every two months I can usually go and spend around 200 bucks in one lap around the store and I usually walk out with about 3-4 bags of clothing.
I also love how it is so easy to take inspiration from a high-end expsensive brand and create a similar look for 1/8 of the price!
So if your indeed for some quick, affordable additions to your wardrobe, swing by your local H&M and have a look!
Heres a look I through together from H&M
Tell me how ya like it!

Knits, Knits, Knits, Hoodies?

Good day my fellow readers!
The Fall Fashion season has now started and its trends are on the move! Personally I love Fall because you can bundle up in cute sweaters and cardigans while still looking pretty fabulous! The heavy, fluffy textiles make me so happy and not to mention cover up the multitude of flaws that I need to hide! But to my dismay the people of my town dont share this warm, fuzzy feeling inside about these new fall trends, like I do!
Every hallway you look down in my high school there are girls in hoodies, sweatpants, and a pair of Uggs which last time I checked wasn't in the top 10 fall fashion trends for 2010 or any year for that matter. Like really girls, is it that hard to actually think about what your putting on your body! Its a fact that when people look at you they judge what you are wearing before they actually get to know you, so you better make a good impression! The sad part about it is that they acctually think they look good! You might be thinkin' well who are you to say what looks good or bad? Well honey, i have enough knowlegde to know that it is a famine of beauty!
So how about trying a long sweater dress with some "Jeggings", a pair of ankle booties and a black belt around your waist! If some girl was walking towards me in the outfit I just recently described, you bet your ass I would be running the other way but if they were wearing the more fabulous outfit idea that i shared with you, i would complement them and think...."Wow this girl has some style, I wanna be her friend!" So do you get my point people? Put some thought into what you are putting on your back and follow some of the latest trends! I'm not saying follow every single trend but purchase some signature pieces that you can mix and match with your previous wardrobe and trust me you'll look fabulous!

Fashion Isn't For Experts Sweet Heart!

I am honestly no fashion expert but I would like to think of my self as a person with some sort of fashion sense. You may be asking your self, well doesn't everyone have some sort of outlook on fashion? Well the answer is..... HELL NO! You don't have to be a fashion expert to know what looks good together or how to put together a some-what acceptable outfit, you just need something called style. Style is a very personal and individual attribute that we must find on our own and is very much represented in the way we dress, but by no means, is a pair of knock-off Ugg boots and some rolled down sweat pants, a reflection on personal style. So please readers, which to my assumption, are hopefully not the people I have recently described, open up a dam magazine and PUT SOME CLOTHS ON!!!!!

My Sad, Dreadful Excuse.... and Surprising Realization

I have been filled with deep sorrow because of my lack of commitment to this thing I call my "blog". I am not sure of the reasons why this lack of commitment has occurred but I must say my diminished sense of inspiration or idea behind what I want to share has been non-existent... But now, surprisingly my inspirations have been released since the start of my senior year of high school. I have now realized that although I may not be in the heart of New York City, fashion as one see's it, can be more than just couture or the next Alexander Wang collection, it can be many things and it is up to the - beholder - (and a little help from me of course) to interrupt it for themselves.
Fashion has been my way of expressing who I am from a very young age and it has taken me this long to figure out that it is a lifestyle that I want to live. Although life has brought me many obstacles that have made me second guess my choices of creating a life and career in fashion, I have come to the realization that I didn't choose fashion, fashion choose me! By no means will I ever be the next John Galliano, in fact being a designer does not spark a real interest in my life but as I have mentioned before, being in fashion PR is my dream. Growing up in this small town or even Canada for that matter, has not really produced any worth-while options that would get my closer to my goals, until now! I am extremely excited to inform you that through my long and mind-numbing search I have finally found a program that is right for me, well almost right! It is the Fashion Communication program at Ryerson in Toronto, which is perfect because every time I have been to Toronto I have fallen in love with the city; mind you it is no NYC! My hope is that getting this education will increase my knowledge on not only fashion PR but in every aspect of the fashion world. As all, soon to be high school grads know, applying to colleges can be very stressful and often straining which I never did believe before this process began, but with every accomplishment in life comes a lot of hard work. I have recently challenged my self to "dare to dream" because siting on the couch watching Oprah wont make you Oprah, if you catch my drift!
Until next time folks!

Stylish "Flats" for Men & Women

Hey Everyone!
On my journey to find trendy fashion I have discovered an amazing brand of shoes for men and women called TOMS. These shoes bring a whole new level to casual fashion! I love them so much: they are not only stylish but incredibly comfortable! I first discovered these guilty pleasures at a local "skate-shop"! Imagine that, fashion in a "skate-shop"! Oh yes its true, I was just as surprises as you! These shoes are so versitle and can go with almost anything in your closest: including tights or your favorite jeans. I recommend these shoes to everyone, they bring comfort to style, just the way we like it! I wear these shoes everywhere, even the beach! They are light weight and have a rubber bottom, so for all you power shoppers, your feet will never get sore! Other then the style aspect of these shoes I have left out the most important attribute of buying these shoes! TOMS has created an amazing movement called "One For One", which is the simple premise that this company was built on. With every pair of shoes sold, one pair of shoes goes to a deserving child in need. Isn't this fantastic! This is what fashion is all about! TOMS shoes have been featured in a multitued of magazines including: Marie Claire, Glamour, Elle Girl, and so many more!
TOMS shoes can be found in many small boutiques or , like i found mine, in "skate-shops". If you cant find them in your area you can order them online!

The Intro...

Hello blogging world!
My name is Morgan and I live for fashion! My dream in life is to become a successful Fashion Publicist in NYC. My passion for fashion has lead me to choose this career path because I have high respect for the fashion industry but I am unfamilar with the design aspect of it and more interested in the business side of things! My strong people skills will hopefully allow me to thrive in this line of work! I live in a small town so fashion is not a priority with all these rednecks! So it is my job to give my "opinionated" and ,hopefully, "informative" outlook on fashion for us small town dwellers. My "eye" for style, fashion, and trends will allow me to take high fashion and show alternatives for affortable and trendy fashion. My goal is to bring fashion to not only the wealthy but show everyone that fashion is not only trends, it's style!
So please stay tuned for upcomming blogs and just contact me for any questions or thoughts on any ideas or concerns you might have!
